Amish Furniture Styles

Amish Furniture Showcase in Frisco offers solid wood furniture that will hold its finish for a lifetime. Each piece is built by skilled Amish and Mennonite Craftsmen and finished by hand with top-industry finishes.

Over the years, Amish furniture has become synonymous with quality furniture. For over 12 years, Amish Furniture Showcase has offered handcrafted solid wood furniture using the tried and true standards of pure Amish craftsmen.

Amish furniture is made in many different styles. Each one has different characteristics.  You can choose which one will best complement your home’s design and theme.

Amish Furniture StylesMission
Mission furniture has straight lines and exposed joinery. It is clean and modern.  Mission furniture is popular for every room of the house, but one of the most popular styles of mission furniture is for the dining room.  Mission furniture can be made from many types of wood, but the most popular one is oak.

Shaker
Shaker furniture is plain, simple and basic.  The purpose of shaker furniture is mainly concerned with functionality and quality.  Shaker furniture is similar to mission furniture in its simplicity; however, shaker furniture has more curves, whereas mission furniture has mostly straight lines.

Queen Anne
Queen Anne is the most traditional.  It usually has carvings, moldings, and unique foot details.   Queen Anne is the most formal of the three main types.

Whatever your style of home, you can perfectly achieve your home’s perfect balance at Frisco’s Amish Furniture Showcase.  Call us or stop by the showroom today to look at Mission, Shaker, and Queen Anne style Amish furniture!

Decorating Your Dining Room

Furniture
Come to the Amish Furniture Showcase in Frisco to choose beautiful, handcrafted furniture for your dining room.  The pieces we have are solid wood and high quality and will never go out of style.  We offer several styles of tables, china cabinets, buffets, and chairs.  They each come in a variety of types of wood.  Some chair choices include padded, upholstered, armchairs, or swivel chairs.  We are certain to have something that matches your tastes and style.

Decorating Your Dining Room

Paint
The theme of your home will help you determine what color and finish of paint to choose.  Most brand names of paint have online tools, such as a color palette and a calculator to help you know how much paint to buy.  Be sure to pay attention to adjoining rooms so that the colors and finishes match.

Mirrors
Some decorators recommend using mirrors in your dining room.  You can use them to decorate or to fill a large wall space.  You can also use them to make a small room appear larger.

Lighting
Hardware stores have a large variety of chandeliers to decorate your dining room with.  Choose a table from Amish Furniture Showcase first, and then go to Lowes or Home Depot and choose a chandelier to match.  Alternatively, a cheaper option is to remove your existing light fixture and paint it to match the new furniture.

Dishes
There are so many dishes to choose from.  Visit your local department store and find dishes to complement your style (traditional, modern, or contemporary).  Some people prefer bright and colorful dishes while others prefer plain white.  When you pick out your dishes, be sure to select a line that has pieces for serving (such as cake plates and casserole dishes) and for display (such as vases).

Taking Care of Wood Furniture

Taking Care of Wood FurnitureWhen you buy a beautiful piece of furniture from Amish Furniture Showcase you will want to take care of it to make sure it lasts for years to come.  Follow these steps to protect your investment.

  1. Sun damage – If possible, keep your furniture out of direct light.  The sunlight can hurt the wood.  If the piece is near the window, make sure you have blinds or curtains.
  2. Dusting – It’s not enough to just dust your furniture.  Use a lint free damp dust cloth to wipe away the dust particles and keep them from grinding into the finish.  You can use a toothbrush to get the edges or hard to reach places.  Start with just the cloth and a little bit of warm water, and if you feel you need to do more, you can choose a cleaning product.  Most dust cleaning products are created equal, so it doesn’t matter which you choose.  However, don’t choose one that contains ammonia.  Also, remember, a little goes a long way!
  3. Polishing – Dusting alone isn’t enough.  Polishing will smooth out imperfections or scratches.  Doing both will not only clean but also protect the wood surface.  You probably only need to do this once a year.
  4. Coasters – The finish of your piece determines whether a glass of water will hurt your coffee table or end table.  When in doubt, use a coaster!

Now you don’t have to be afraid of damaging your furniture! Come to Amish Furniture Showcase in Frisco today to pick out a beautiful entertainment center, china cabinet, or coffee table for your home.
