Taking Care of Wood Furniture

Taking Care of Wood FurnitureWhen you buy a beautiful piece of furniture from Amish Furniture Showcase you will want to take care of it to make sure it lasts for years to come.  Follow these steps to protect your investment.

  1. Sun damage – If possible, keep your furniture out of direct light.  The sunlight can hurt the wood.  If the piece is near the window, make sure you have blinds or curtains.
  2. Dusting – It’s not enough to just dust your furniture.  Use a lint free damp dust cloth to wipe away the dust particles and keep them from grinding into the finish.  You can use a toothbrush to get the edges or hard to reach places.  Start with just the cloth and a little bit of warm water, and if you feel you need to do more, you can choose a cleaning product.  Most dust cleaning products are created equal, so it doesn’t matter which you choose.  However, don’t choose one that contains ammonia.  Also, remember, a little goes a long way!
  3. Polishing – Dusting alone isn’t enough.  Polishing will smooth out imperfections or scratches.  Doing both will not only clean but also protect the wood surface.  You probably only need to do this once a year.
  4. Coasters – The finish of your piece determines whether a glass of water will hurt your coffee table or end table.  When in doubt, use a coaster!

Now you don’t have to be afraid of damaging your furniture! Come to Amish Furniture Showcase in Frisco today to pick out a beautiful entertainment center, china cabinet, or coffee table for your home.
